Description

Are you interested in becoming a trustee of an amazing east London or Islington based charity?

During this period of uncertainty, leadership and governance have never been more important. Now you have the chance to use your professional skills and experience to help shape the future of an east London or Islington based charity.

BoardMatch provides you with the opportunity to meet east London and Islington based charities that are in need of new trustees and to submit an application to join the board of the organisations of your choosing. ELBA/BIG Alliance staff members will support you through the application process and, if you are invited to interview, will facilitate an introduction to your chosen organisation. If your application is unsuccessful then an ELBA/BIG Alliance staff member will work with you to find an alternative trustee position.

The event

Normally, BoardMatch events take place at one of ELBA/BIG Alliance’s member companies, providing you with the opportunity to meet representatives of up to 15 different charities in person. However, due to COVID 19 restrictions, we are going digital! BoardMatch10 Digital Edition will take place remotely between 21st May – 11th June, using the wonders of modern technology to introduce you to community organisations that are actively seeking new trustees.

The event will kick off at 5:30pm on Thursday 21st May with a video conference during which you will have the opportunity to learn about the role of trustee and some of the benefits of joining a board. You can join the launcg event by clicking here: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85398004775. Following the lauch, we will unveil 1-minute presentations from each of the charities. You will then have the chance to “meet” each of the participating charities via 30-minute video conference calls which will take place on the 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th May. Finally, you will have opportunity to apply to join the board of any of the participating charities by submitting an expression of interest form and copy of your CV by no later than 5pm on Thursday 11th June. The event schedule below provides an overview of the BoardMatch process including key dates for each activity.

Post-event - The introduction/interview process

If you decide to submit a trustee application then your CV and expression of interest form will be sent to the charity/charities of your choosing for consideration. If successful, you will be invited to an interview which will be conducted remotely. The interview is both an opportunity for the charity to understand the skills and experience that you will bring to their board and for you to learn more about the charity. If, following the interview, both parties wish to progress your application then you will be invited to become a trustee.
